Emerson "John" Tohafjian has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he ambushed and killed his ex-girlfriend and her friend in Waterloo last year in July.

The man who ambushed and killed his ex-girlfriend and her friend in Waterloo was sentenced Friday.

Seneca County Court Judge Rick Healy sentenced Emerson "John" Tohafjian to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The judge told Tohafjian it was "nothing short of a premeditated, cold-blooded execution."

Tohafjian was convicted of 18 charges, including murder, in December.

Tohafjian shot and killed Lori McConnell and Chuck Andrus at a home in Waterloo back on July 10. A second woman, Karen Zdunko, was also shot during the attack, but survived.
