The lives of George Adgate Dean, 1904-70 and his wife Louise Griswold Dean, 1905-95, are represented in a collection of documents, photographs and other items recently donated by the family to the Perinton Historical Society.
Each served their adopted hometown, the Fairport-Perinton community, in many capacities.
The presentation will occur from 7 to 8 p.m. on March 13 in the community room at the Fairport Public Library, 1 Fairport Village Landing. This event is free, registration is required.
The Deans were active in the Perinton Historical Society as members of the PHS Executive Committee. An added highlight of the presentation will be the inclusion of many photographs, often through the lens of Louise Dean. Many of these photographs have only been unearthed recently and will include images from this community, from the 1930s through the 1950s.
The event will be presented by Perinton Town Historian Bill Poray. Poray has been the town of Perinton and village of Fairport municipal historian since 2013.
His local history columns appear in the Fairport-East Rochester edition of the Monroe County Post and on perinton.org, the Perinton town website. He researches and documents local history and provides presentations to many groups, including clubs, schools and other organizations. He also leads history walks and bicycle tours and is involved in the local historic preservation field.
