“Strings for Success meets fivebyfive” will showcase the violin students of School 19’s Strings for Success in a one-time performance with quintet fivebyfive and rapper Glory, with new music written for the occasion by local composers Marc Webster and Sungmin Shin.
The free performance will take place at 7 p.m. on March 14 at the Church of Love Faith Center, located at 700 Exchange St., Rochester. Donations are welcome in support of Strings for Success.
Fivebyfive is a quintet based in Rochester, formed in 2015 with a mission to engage audiences in modern chamber music. The group performs works of today’s leading composers, supports emerging composers from around the world and collaborates with artists across the disciplines.
Through its workshops and educational concerts fivebyfive aims to spark young people’s creative potential. Fivebyfive is Laura Lentz, flute; Marcy Bacon, clarinet; Sungmin Shin, electric guitar; Eric J. Polenik, bass and Haeyeun Jeun, piano.

Strings for Success is a program of The Center for Youth in partnership with the Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School 19 in in the Rochester City School District that enables interested students at School 19 to study the violin. The program creates opportunities for children to benefit from the transformational power of music and build assets for their future.
