Greetings. As we begin to leave winter in our wake and head full speed into spring, I’d like to take a quick look at what’s going on in our town.
New Faces at Town Hall: In December, we welcomed a new assessor and attorney to Town Hall. Wayne Pickering joined us our new town assessor after serving the last 16 years as the Victor town assessor and Joe LaFay accepted the town attorney position. Joe is a familiar face to many, having served for several years on the Town Board.
January brought a few more new faces. Seana Sartori and Dave Belaskas were appointed to the vacant seats on the Town Board. Both Seana and Dave have served the town on volunteer boards for many years. I am very excited to work with both as they bring their unique skills and talents to serve our town in a new capacity.
Family Fun: Our 29th annual Perinton Pizza Poll was, once again, a huge success. Another sold out crowd gathered to weigh in on their choice for top pizza in our town. Events such as Family Sports Night, the Valentine Ball and Friday Family Flix Nights brought families together for fun-filled evenings for everyone involved. Our 55-plus programs continue to grow in popularity as well. The lunch programs, lounge programs and drop-in programs are all great successes, bringing folks together for good food and good company. I want to thank our wonderful staff and volunteers for all they do to make these programs and events successful. They do a great job, and we couldn’t do it without them. With yet another very successful winter program winding down we are now getting ready for our spring programs. Check out and our Facebook page for more information.
On the streets: Our DPW did a great job once again this winter. Even though the snow came before the leaves even finished dropping, our crews never skipped a beat. They kept the roads clear and, despite the early snow, were able to get the leaves picked up as well. This spring, in addition to the usual drainage and road projects, the DPW will gear up for a couple of new sewer projects — Mason Road and Red Barn Circle/Beatrice Cove. I can’t say enough about our hard working and talented DPW staff. Season after season, and year after year they do a terrific job for our town.
Warmer weather is around the corner: The Parks Department has been hard at work all winter getting our park shelters cleaned, painted, repaired and ready to go for the warmer months. They are now all set to go — get your reservations in. You can check out all the facilities and reserve them through our website:
PASS it on: Our town has rolled out its new notification system. It is called the Perinton Alert Services System. This is a quick and easy way to stay in the loop when it comes to alerts, news and general happenings from your town departments. All you need to do is click on the PASS icon at the top of our home page at to sign up.
I want to thank everyone for the incredible support I have received in the first few months on the job. I have enjoyed every minute of it and look forward to continuing to serve our town. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to stop by, call or email any time. My number is (585) 223-0770 and my email address is I look forward to hearing from you.
