Concerts on Park will present the Rod Blumenau Quartet at 7 p.m. on March 15 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 815 Park Ave., Rochester.
Piano Rod is known for his programming, humor and musicianship and is a published ASCAP jazz composer. He has performed with Andre Kostelanetz, Henry Mancini, Clark Terry, Cab Calloway and Mel Tormé.
He is joined by Cornetist Tim Clarke, audio engineer with Fisher Price who creates music for Fisher-Price toys. He has performed with Dick Hyman, Randy Sandke, Ken Peplowski, Frank Wess and Bob Wilber.
They team up with bassist from the Eastman School, Grant Le, a first-year student of Jeff Campbell, who is playing at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago and Rochester’s Bop Shop Records with musicians such as drummer Jimmy Bennington.
Completing the quartet is John Beck, retired principal tympanist for the RPO and head of the percussion department at the Eastman School of Music.
The opening act is the Penfield High Jazz Combo.
Concert donations of $10 for adults, $5 for students with a $25 family will be accepted.
