The April schedule at Blackfriars Theatre, 795 E. Main St., Rochester, features a production centered on a rare stamp collection discovery, a play about a Peter Pan actress, a sketch comedy troupe, and a weekend of improv.
Performances of “Mauritius” by Theresa Rebeck are running through April 7. The high-stakes drama centers around two estranged sisters who, after their mother’s death, come across a stamp collection containing the crown jewel for collectors.
The Hourglass Play Reading Series will mount the final reading of the 2018-19 season with “For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday” by Sarah Ruhl at 2 p.m. on April 6. This is the story of Ann and her experience playing Peter Pan at her hometown theater in Iowa. Admission is free.
EstroFest members Dresden Engle, Andrea Holland, Norma Holland, Allison Roberts and Freyda Schneider will take the stage to celebrate the troupe’s 20th anniversary at 7 p.m. on April 19-20. Tickets cost $25.
The Blackfriars Comedy Series will conclude with Unleashed! Improv at 8 p.m. on April 26-27. Tickets cost $12 in advance, $15 at the door.
