The Pittsford Mendon High School indoor track and field team set several school records during the 2018-19 season.
Samantha Erdle broke the record for the 55-meter dash, running it in 7.52 seconds. This record was held by Melissa Scorse-VanArsdale, one of Erdle’s coaches at Mendon.
Sarah Kelley set a new 500-meter record in 1 minute, 37.83 seconds.
Julia Tomanovich is the new record holder in the 1,600-meter run, covering the distance race in 5:40.29 seconds.
Two of the girls’ relay teams also set records this season. The descending relay team completed a total of 2,800 meters in 8:48.27 seconds.
Rachel McCarthy covered the 1000 meter portion, Julia Tomanovich ran the 800-meter leg, Samara Henning covered the 600-meter portion and Lexi Herman ran 400 meters as the anchor leg.
Janelle Eckl, Shammonie Lee, Lacy Howe and Grace Olczak comprised the double 4x200 meter relay team. Each girl ran a 200-meter relay leg and then they repeated the relay. Their total time was 4:12.76 seconds.
On the boys’ side, Sam Lawler set a new Mendon record in the 500-meter run in 1:14.77 seconds. The long jump record was broken by Lucas Thiele by soaring 21 1/2 feet.
