America’s Boating Club will offer a certification class from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 11 at Rush-Henrietta Senior High School, 1799 Lehigh Station Road, Henrietta.
Anyone born after May 1, 1996, is required to obtain a state boater’s license to operate a boat or personal watercraft, along with anyone ages 14 and younger to operate a PWC and anyone ages 10 and older for boats.
Course participants must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult.
Subjects covered will include safety and seamanship, small boat handling, government regulations, rules of the road, aids to navigation, boat trailering, manners, and customs.
Completion of the course and passing the exam will satisfy state law pertaining to mandatory PWC education requirements for all ages, and will allow boaters ages 10 and older to operate a boat legally without adult supervision.
