The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed legislation to dedicate a Fairport post office in honor of the late Louise and Bob Slaughter.
The facility on Ayrault Road will be renamed to honor the Slaughters. Currently a carrier annex, the facility will undergo renovations over the next year to become a full retail post office.
“It’s truly a privilege to have introduced and passed this legislation honoring Louise and her husband, Bob Slaughter, whose immeasurable contributions have made our community, and our entire country, a better place,” said U.S. Rep. Joe Morelle, D-25th District. “I’m especially grateful to my colleagues in the New York delegation who have joined me in co-sponsoring this legislation. Its widespread, bipartisan support is a testament to the profound impact Louise Slaughter has had on us all, and will have for years to come.”
This legislation will be sent to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
