Gwenn Voelckers, of Mendon, will offer Alone and Content, an empowerment workshop for divorced and widowed women, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 31 at House Content Bed & Breakfast.
Participants will discover how to think differently about living alone, and the opportunity they have to rewrite their next chapter with more clarity, purpose and joy.
The $165 workshop fee includes interactive discussions led by Voelckers, empowerment exercises, advice and resources. Breakfast refreshments with pastries and a healthy lunch are included.
Divorced years ago, Voelckers coped with the challenges and opportunities that confront women in midlife who live alone, often for the first time in their lives. In 2005, she introduced her first Living Alone workshop after a solo trip to Paris, where she celebrated turning 50. Voelckers is now 64.
“You have lots of time to think when you travel alone,” Voelckers said. “In Paris, I thought about my struggles after my divorce, and returned home determined to help other women pick up the pieces and put their lives back together after a divorce or the loss of a spouse.”
Voelckers has led workshops for over a decade. Last year, she published her first book, “Alone and Content: Inspiring, empowering essays to help divorced and widowed women feel whole and complete on their own.”
Not a licensed professional, Voelckers’ expertise is born out of real-life experience. She shares her story and strategies so that others can imagine a brighter future and move forward with confidence and a renewed love for life.
