One resident of the home was unable to evacuate and was found dead.

One person is dead after a very early morning fire Saturday in Perinton.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, the residents at 10 Chesfield Lookout awoke to smokey conditions around 12:08 a.m. on Saturday. 911 was called, and firefighters arrived to find an active structure fire.

One resident of the home was unable to evacuate and was found dead.

According to sheriff’s deputies and firefighters, the fire was contained to an upstairs bedroom and does not appear to be suspicious.

Although the victim's identity is being withheld pending confirmation of their identity by the Medical Examiner's Office, News10NBC learned from the homeowner that the victim is Jeffrey Rhinewald, the 50-year-old son of the homeowner's girlfriend.

Firefighters from Fairport Fire Department, East Rochester Fire Department, Penfield Fire Department and Bushnell's Basin Fire Department joined deputies from the Sheriff's Office in responding to the incident.
