Churchville

Derek Maxfield, of Churchville, received the 2019 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for excellence in teaching at Genesee Community College in Batavia. Maxfield is an associate professor of history.

Greece

Patrick Donlon, of Greece, recently received a $5,000 scholarship from the Monroe 2-Orleans Education Foundation, co-sponsored by Campus Construction.

Hamlin

Celestino Mendez, of Hamlin, recently joined the Finger Lakes Community College chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges. To be eligible, students must complete 15 hours of associate degree coursework and earn a 3.5 GPA.

Hilton

Orion Clark, of Hilton, was named to the spring 2019 dean’s list at SUNY Potsdam. To be eligible, students must complete at least 12 hours and earn a 3.25-3.49 GPA. Clark majors in physics.

Catherine Shields, of Hilton, won a 2019-20 U.S. Student Fulbright Award for Turkey to serve as an English teaching assistant in a university or post-secondary institution. Shields graduated in May 2019 with a degree in history and communication from SUNY Geneseo.

Marianne Swan, of Hilton, was named to the spring 2019 provost’s list at SUNY Oneonta. To be eligible, students must carry at least 12 hours and earn a 4.0 GPA.

North Chili

Alyssa Blodgett, of Rochester, was named to the spring 2019 dean’s list at SUNY Potsdam. To be eligible, students must complete at least 12 hours and earn a 3.25-3.49 GPA. Blodgett majors in music.
