The Penfield Players will present a free readers’ theater performance of Paul Sills’ play, “Story Theatre,” at 6 p.m. on July 27 at the Penfield Amphitheater, 3100 Atlantic Ave.
Directed by Carl Del Buono, “Story Theatre” retells famous fables from the Brothers Grimm to Aesop in a style that became a hallmark of Sills’ career. Audience members will be reintroduced to Henny Penny, the Golden Goose; Venus and the Cat; the Fisherman and his Wife; and the Robber Bridegroom among many others.
The cast features: Julia Coffey, Doug Curry, Kenya Malcolm, Donna Nauman, Gary Nauman, Brent Neeley, Maria Sanguedolce and Karen Wilson.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and snacks, and have a picnic supper before and during the show. In the event of rain, the reading will take place in the Penfield Community Center at 1985 Baird Road.
Readers’ theater is a style of theater in which the actors, rather than memorizing lines, interpret them while holding their scripts.
Admission to “Story Theatre” is free, but donations will be accepted. Visit for more information.
