A release from the Gananda Central School District confirms that high school ELA teacher Alexandra "Alex" Fee died following the accident.

A local teacher and cheerleading coach died on Saturday evening after an accident during a vacation in California according to a friend of the family.

A release from the Gananda Central School District confirms that high school ELA teacher Alexandra "Alex" Fee died following the accident. Fee had taught in the Gananda Central School District since October 2014 and had also worked as an advisor for school organizations such as the yearbook. In addition, she was a cheerleading coach for the Penfield Central School District.

Alex, who had been vacationing in San Diego, had also served as a cheerleading judge for Section V. The Section V Cheerleading Judges Association has posted a remembrance of her on their Facebook page.

Gananda opened the high school for all students and alumni from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday to speak with counselors. It is not yet known if there will be future openings and remembrances.
