Deputies reported stopping a vehicle on Route 20A shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday that led to the arrests

Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies reported stopping a vehicle on Route 20A shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday for parking on pavement and a turn signal violation. A roadside investigation led to charges for the driver and a passenger.

Deputies charged the driver, Joseph Shulla, 26, of Farmington, with driving while impaired by alcohol and drugs combined. Deputies said the passenger, Benjamin Carey, 26, of Victor, was found to have a quantity of cocaine. Carey was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Both were issued tickets to answer the charges at a later date in Richmond Town Court.
