Four people have been injured including two airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital after a serious car accident in Waterloo, Seneca County.

State Police say that they remain at the scene of a motor vehicle accident that occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday on Edwards Road south of State Route 96 in Waterloo. Troopers say that initial reports suggest that a northbound vehicle moved into the southbound lane, leading to a head-on collision.

Two people from the southbound vehicle have been airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with what State Police describe as serious injuries. The drivers of the two vehicles have both been taken to Geneva Hospital with injuries as well.

Troopers say that the road will likely be closed for several hours.
