Greece resident joins Dixon Schwabl

Amanda Hays, of Greece, recently joined the Dixon Schwabl digital team in Victor as a digital designer.

Hays will create media for the content team, including social media and blog graphics. She will work with the web team to design landing pages.

Hays brings three years of experience to her new role. She joins the team from The Verdi Group, where she served as a web designer and developer. Hays earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in design from Alfred University.

 

Greece Rotarian named 2019 Woman of Distinction

Greece Rotarian Kathy Graupman received the 2019 Woman of Distinction Award representing the 56th Senate District from state Sen. Joe Robach.

The program honors exemplary women from across the state whose professional and personal achievements, commitment to excellence, and accomplishments merit special recognition.

Graupman, superintendent of the Greece Central School District, was selected by Robach for the passion and commitment she brings to her endeavors, from leading the school district to participating in Rotary events.

 

Hilton senior named National Merit Scholarship finalist

Hilton High School senior Skylaar Garbowski is a semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship program. She will join 16,000 students across the U.S. in competing for 7,500 scholarships worth more than $31 million next spring.

To be considered for an award, semifinalists must fulfill the requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition. Over 90% are expected to attain finalist standing and half will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.

Over 1.6 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools entered the 2019 National Merit Scholarship program by taking the 2017 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The pool of semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, consists of the highest scoring entrants in each state.
