Students from the Pittsford Mendon High School cross-country team participated in the Pre-State Invitational at SUNY
Plattsburgh on Sept. 21.
The Vikings were represented in four of the eight 5K races.
Mendon’s varsity B girls earned second place and were led by Katie Richardson’s fourth-place finish. Richardson was followed closely by Jessica Robinson in seventh, Amy Zhou in 10th, Shannon Hughes in 11th, Arianne D’Arcy in 12th, Claudia Burke in 16th and Claire
Pippin in 19th.
Olivia Lucia’s 11th place finish led her varsity squad to second place. Completing the race after Lucia were Riley Morrell in 18th, Holy Kim in 19th, Kristen Azzara in 24th, Riana Heffron in 26th, Sophia Palumbo in 28th and Julieta Zabala in 31st.
On the boys’ side, the Vikings’ varsity B team was led to victory over 16 other teams by individual race champion Nathan Trumble. Crossing the line after Trumble were Brendan Kane in 4th, Gavin Clouser in 6th, Alex Pogharian in 8th, Kyle Owlett in 18th, Michael Palumbo in
24th, and Sebastian Affronti in 27th.
The varsity boys earned second place behind Sam Lawler’s individual win and fastest time of the day. Following Lawler were Jimmy Smith in 11th, Drew Cox in 14th, Colby Schenkel in 23rd, Evan Hackett in 27th, Nathan Gupton in 38th and Nico Valentine in 51st.
