Bristol Mountain opened its 2019/2020 season at noon on Thursday, making it the first ski area to open in New York state. “With excellent snow and blue skies, it was the perfect day to kick-off” the winter resort’s 55th season, Bristol Mountain announced.
First chair honors went to Mason Piazza, John Vyverberg, Ian Douglas, and Scott Battle, who began lining up two hours before opening to secure the coveted position. RJ Anton, age 12, from Victor, took a break from school to take his first turns of the season, “It was good! I’m excited for the season,” said RJ.
“David O, a recent retiree from South Bristol, felt lucky that this was the first opening day that he has been able to attend. “I look forward to skiing tomorrow. Hats off to Bristol Mountain and the staff for getting the mountain open so early. It was a lot of fun,” said David O.
