National Guard promotes Rochester soldiers

The New York Army National Guard recently promoted Rochester residents Emari Brown, Tyler Bentivegna, Angela Granger and Dwayne Strassner.

Brown, Bentivegna and Strassner each were promoted to the rank of private first class. Brown is assigned to the Forward Support Company, 204th Engineer Battalion. Bentivegna serves with the Headquarters and Service Company, 642nd Support Battalion. Strassner is in the 152nd Engineer Support Company.

Granger was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant and serves with the Headquarters and Service Company, 642nd Support Battalion.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.


Greece Town Board honors local Scout

Tyler Stevenson, of Troop 197, recently received the town of Greece Eagle Scout Recognition Medal from the Greece Town Board.

The medal goes to local Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Scouts had to complete a community service project to earn this rank.

Stevenson organized and supervised groups of volunteers to clear the Greece Athena High School courtyard for his project. The bushes were overgrown, benches were in need of repair, and the yard required landscaping, edging, weeding and trimming.


Scottsville resident joins HR Works

Kim Knapp, of Scottsville, recently joined HR Works Inc. as an affirmative action data analyst.

Knapp brings more than 18 years of experience, and will leverage her expertise in data cleansing, customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment to support the affirmative action department.

Knapp holds a master’s degree in organizational learning and human resource development from St. John Fisher College, and is aPHRTM-certified.


Wheatland-Chili students join NHS

Wheatland-Chili students Acacia Adams, Hanna Beldue, Ethan Buyea, Elizabeth Hogan, Ian Orloff, Anthony Polisseni, Logan Rocha, Connor Wehle and Aaryana Young recently were inducted into the National Honor Society.
