Candace Tytler and Nick Bauman each turned in historic cross-country seasons for Irondequoit High School this fall.
Bauman, a senior, became the first male runner in school history to win an individual Section V Championship, capturing the Class A race at Midlakes Central Schools. He went on to finish 15th in the state championships and 21st in Plattsburgh in the Federation championships in Wappingers Falls.
As a team, IHS won the Monroe County Division 3 title for the third year and was runner-up at sectionals and 20th at the Federation.
Competing on the same timeline and at the same venues, Tytler, a sophomore, did just as well. After finishing as runner-up to teammate Annalee Capuano at the Monroe County Championships, Tytler was faster than any other girl in Section V at sectionals. She won the Class A race to become the fourth female in IHS history to win. Capuano was third.
