Six Webster high school students competed Dec. 7 in the University of Buffalo’s third Lockdown Cybersecurity Competition for High Schools.
Skyler Ferrante and Edward Boone represented Webster Schroeder, and Alexandra Valachovic, Patrick Mason, Nolan White and Alessandra Visca represented Webster Thomas.
At this hands-on competition, student teams were tasked with defending a small network of systems from attack and scored on how well their services remain available, also known as service uptime. Teams also were assigned and scored on various timed tasks to complete throughout the event.
Teams of all skill levels competed, and the Webster Schroeder team placed second.
