The Animal Service League, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that matches adoptable cats, dogs and small pets with homes, will host its third annual Holiday Extravaganza Open House from noon to 5 p.m. on Dec. 8 at their facility at 10 Dubelbeiss Lane, Irondequoit.
The event features opportunities to tour the shelter, meet adoptable animals and greet Animal Service League staff, volunteers and board members. Animals will not be available for adoption at the event, but applications may be completed.
Special guests include the Wildlife Educators Coalition and their unique exotics.
Attendees will enjoy complimentary food and beverages, raffles for fun prizes; and an opportunity to purchase merchandise. Any guest who brings one gallon of liquid HE laundry detergent or two gallons of bleach to the open house as a donation will receive one free raffle ticket for their chance to win a raffle basket. Proceeds benefit the Animal Service League.
The ASL giving tree holds a photo ornament for each cat in the shelter. Guests can take an ornament from the tree for the cat in the shelter they want to sponsor by making a monetary or tangible gift donation — wet food, toys, pet beds and blankets.
In addition to this event, opportunities to meet animals available for adoption are available by appointment at the shelter where volunteers can assist in finding the perfect companion. Animals available for adoption are listed on the website site at animalserviceleagueny.org and on the Animal Service
League Facebook page at facebook.com/AnimalServiceLeague. An online adoption application is available which all adopters must complete in order to be considered.
