A Farmington woman escaped injury when her vehicle went off the road and into a ditch, striking a utility pole.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, Ashley Marthage, 27, was driving north on County Road 8 at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when she lost control of her vehicle in the area of 852 County Road 8 and crossed over the center line and into a ditch, where she struck a utility pole.

RG&E was called to the scene, as power lines impeded the roadway. County Road 8 was closed from Collett Road to Holtz Road for a period of time. Farmington Fire Department, Victor Farmington Ambulance and the Farmington Highway Department responded to assist, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said it was determined that speed, black ice and snowy roadways were determining factors in the crash.
