School districts throughout the Finger Lakes region unanimously decide to close all schools and to cancel all school-related activities beginning Wednesday, March 18 as a precautionary measure for COVID-19 (coronavirus).

All area districts are posting notices on their websites with a similar message.

Here is what is posted on the Honeoye Central School website:

“Although there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario County, a Declaration of Emergency has been issued effective 3/15/2020. This Declaration of Emergency, paired with the direction of Ontario County Department of Health, regional agencies, and state officials has prompted all of the Finger Lakes Region School Districts to unanimously decide to close all schools and to cancel all school-related activities beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020 as a mitigating and precautionary measure for COVID-19 (coronavirus). During this time, all students and families are encouraged to practice social distancing.”
