A resident at a skilled nursing facility in Wyoming County died Monday after testing positive for COVID-19.

The person was one of two residents who tested positive at the Wyoming County Community Health System (WCCHS) skilled nursing facility has died.

Health officials say the patient had been cared for in isolation since being tested.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the resident," CEO of WCCHS Joseph McTernan said. "As we grieve, the safety of our residents, patients, staff and the community remains our focus."

It is unknown as to where the two residents contracted the virus, according to health officials.
