In the last two weeks, since we closed our schools in response to COVID-19, community members have been asking how they can help our students. Our response has always been that a donation to The Spot helps many — and that is still true!

Now, with the closure of small businesses, may we humbly suggest that if your finances allow and you are so inclined, please purchase a gift card from a local eatery. Drop it off during our meal giveaways (Monday through Friday, Primary Link entrance, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and we will distribute them. You can just drive up, state you are here to drop off a card and leave. We will work with our volunteers to collect these cards and will do our best to establish a fair process to get them to those in need.

Our local businesses have always been faithful and enthusiastic supporters of our schools and families. By placing ads in our programs, donating goods and services, volunteering time, and showing up, the people who own, operate and work for our local businesses have been valuable members of this Braves family. Over 200 meals were given away on our first day of operation. Your contribution will make a difference.

If this is not for you, please simply do not participate! There is a role every single person can play in fighting this pandemic and every effort counts. Wash your hands, stay home, practice social distancing, maintain compassion for yourself and for others.

We are all in this together. Thank you for being the best partners any school district could possibly have.
