Rochester soldier retires from service
Sgt. 1st Class Sean Smith, of Rochester, recently retired from the New York Army National Guard after more than 20 years of military service.
Smith was assigned to the Headquarters & Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry.
“A full military career is a major achievement in the lives of our citizen soldiers and their families,” said Maj. Gen. Ray Shields, the adjutant general for New York state. "On behalf of our force, I extend my best wishes for the success of our retirees as they begin new chapters in their lives.”
RIT professor named ACE Fellow
The American Council on Education named Robin Cass, of Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Art and Design, an ACE Fellow for 2020-21.
Cass is among 38 Fellows selected this year after her nomination by RIT President David Munson and an application process. She first joined the College in 1998 as a faculty member in the glass program and recently completed a two-year term as interim dean.
ACE Fellows observe and work with the president and other senior officers at their host institution, attend decision-making meetings, and focus on issues of interest. Fellows also conduct projects of concern for their home institution and seek to implement their findings upon completion of the fellowship placement.
