ROCHESTER — Fire officials rescued a worker trapped under concrete in the South Avenue Garage in Rochester on Thursday morning.

Crews responded to a call around 10:45 a.m. for a person trapped under a concrete slab on a higher floor. Fire officials said the workers were jackhammering on the roof when concrete fell below onto the man. Rescue crews used a forklift to get the concrete off.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Fire officials say he was alert and speaking.
