SkillsUSA presented an Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award to cosmetology instructor Lisa Romeiser, of Victor, during its 2020 National Leadership and Skills Conference.
Romeiser has been involved with SkillsUSA at the local, regional, state and national levels for 35 years. She served as an adviser for state officers, competitors and local chapters; taught Career Essential Certified Teacher training; and chaired local and state contests in extemporaneous speaking and prepared speech contests.
Her “students” included those she taught in her classrooms; the state officers she advised and trained; the New York competitors she served and evaluated at the local regional and state levels; the thousands of students she influenced through her service on the national education team, and as a national chair of the opening and closing ceremonies competition; and the instructors/advisers she served and trained as a SkillsUSA trainer.
“Lisa has worked to ensure that all students benefited from their experience in SkillsUSA, and that all activities provided are positive and in the best interest of the students,” said Chelle Travis, executive director. “Her passion and excitement for teaching is clearly her guiding light.”
The Outstanding Educator Award goes to teachers who guide SkillsUSA student members to becoming leaders in their chosen fields.
