Lifetime Assistance Inc. is planning its annual fundraiser, the Airport Games, as a virtual event due to social distancing recommendations.
The Totally Virtual Race will run Aug. 22-28. Participants can choose their course, time and pace, whether it’s at home, on the track or treadmill, or in a park or neighborhood.
Runners can tag Lifetime Assistance during or after the race via Instagram and Facebook (@lifetimeassistanceinc) or Twitter (@LifeAssistInc) with the hashtag #AirportGames. Results should be downloaded by 8 p.m. on Aug. 28.
Those already registered for the 21st annual event will be registered automatically for the virtual version or offered a refund. The deadline to make the switch or request a refund is 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 1.
The Flower City CrossFit 5K, which includes fitness challenges and obstacles, will run Aug. 23-27. Workout videos will be released each day on Flower City CrossFit’s Facebook page and website.
Participants will post videos of their workout on social media, and tag Lifetime Assistance and Flower City CrossFit (@flowercitycrossfit on Instagram and Facebook, @flowercitycf on Twitter). A random drawing for prizes will take place including those who post videos for all five days.
Registrants will be sent an email with information on how to download their finishing times. Official event race shirts and finisher medals will be mailed starting on Aug. 30 after all of the results have been collected.
Lifetime is seeking to raise $100,000 at this year’s Games. All funds benefit services for people with developmental disabilities, including health and wellness programs, educational advancement opportunities, technology, essential adaptive lift and transfer equipment, and Special Olympics training.
Registration is $25 per person, plus $2.50 processing fees. Visit lifetimeassistance.org/airport-games for information.
