Flower City Arts Center, 713 Monroe Ave., Rochester, is offering free and discounted to essential workers.
The Center is raising money to provide these discounted classes to thank essential workers for their service and make available new outlets for them to express themselves through art. Using funds raised during the annual spring scholarship appeal, Flower City Arts has over $6,000 to start making that happen.
Scholarship assistance is available to all essential workers through March 31, 2021, or until the fund runs out. These are awarded on a sliding scale based on household income, once per seasonal quarter. Scholarships range from 10% to a full-course cost.
Essential workers who are members of Flower City Arts can apply for a one-year paid membership. Employers can email director@rochesterarts.org to discuss a lower group rate. Visit rochesterarts.org for information.
Essential workers are those who reported for work during and throughout the lockdown period, and include workers at hospitals, nursing homes and other health care entities, fire stations, U.S. Post offices, delivery companies, grocery and convenience stores, and restaurants that were open for carry-out or delivery.
