Rochester Rotary will hold its second annual Sunshine Camp Trail Mix 5K to benefit children with disabilities who take advantage of Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, 809 Five Points Road, Rush.
The Trail Mix 5K is scheduled for Oct. 11. Runners will take part in the event on-site; walkers have the option of participating at the camp or virtually.
In addition to supporting children and young adults with disabilities, participants will have a chance to see some of the 157 acres of this private camp through a mix of paved sidewalks and natural dirt trails.
“Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp is the only local camp of its kind that gives children with special needs unique overnight camping experiences,” said Peter Glennon, president of Rochester Rotary. “While the camp is not operating this summer due to COIVID-19, we are holding events like the Trail Mix 5K to help secure the future of our 98-year-old camp. We hope the community will come out for this event and help local kids with disabilities.”
