In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 18th annual Sunset House 5K Run and Fitness Walk will be held virtually on Oct. 7-17.
All proceeds will go to Sunset House, a nonprofit organization that provides alternative living arrangements for Irondequoit residents unable to receive hospice care services in their homes. This year’s fundraising goal is $15,000.
Participants have from 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 7 to midnight Oct. 17 to complete a 5K run or walk on the streets, trails, treadmill, etc. All finishers will receive a race T-shirt and commemorative awareness ribbon.
Registration is $25 through Oct. 4, then increases to $30. Packet pickup will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Rochester Running Co., 1387 Mount Hope Ave.
Everyone registering for this event will be entered into a drawing to win $50 gift cards to Union Tavern, Walmart or Hudson/Titus Service Station, or a canvas tote bag.
Participants are encouraged to share photos and videos of their training sessions, runs and walks throughout the event.
