Fairport Rotary honors Paul Harris Fellows
Fairport Rotary Club honored three members at a recent meeting by naming them Paul Harris Fellows.
Newcomb Losh, Dave Scheirer and Becky Wilson were the surprise honorees. For each Fellow, the club made a $1,000 contribution to the Rotary Foundation, which supports Rotary International’s efforts to achieve world understanding and peace through humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs.
Losh, a nine-year club member, served on many committees, improved the club’s website and produces the advertising book for Savor the Flavor. Scheirer, who serves as club secretary, was involved with projects and volunteer efforts with the Perinton Food Shelf. Wilson served as president for 2019-20, guiding the club throughout the pandemic.
This honor makes Scheirer a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, having earlier contributed to the Foundation. He received a Blue Sapphire Pin in addition to his Paul Harris medallion. Blue Sapphire pins indicating multiple donations to the Foundation also were earned recently by club members Domenick Cecconi, Pat George, Bob Hartnett and Lew Heisman.
Rotarian Tom Wolanski also completed his Paul Harris Fellow and was recognized for his contributions. Wolanski, an active member of the club’s board of directors, chairs three club committees, including the public relations committee.
Fairport Rotary has 38 current members named as Paul Harris Fellows and recognized more than 130 Fellows over the years. Visit fairportrotary.com for information.
