Local firms win at 2020 PRSA PRism Awards

The Public Relations Society of America Rochester chapter recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of its annual PRism Awards with a virtual ceremony honoring 20 organizations across 36 professional categories and nine student categories.

Best of Show winners are McDougall Communications, which took home the award in the corporate sector for its event, “Brighter Day, Brighter Planet: CooperVision’s clariti 1 day experience,” and Dixon Schwabl, which won in the nonprofit sector for its brand management campaign “Buffalo Waterfront Branding and Execution.”

Dixon Schwabl earned the most awards of the evening with 23. McDougall won 16 awards and the University of Rochester Medical Center was recognized for five projects. The Martin Group and Break the Ice Media each were recognized for four projects.

Four schools across the Rochester region earned two or more awards: Pittsford Central School District (three), Our Lady of Mercy (two), St. John Fisher College (five) and the College at Brockport (three).

Jessica Lewis, president and CEO of LaLew Public Relations, earned this year’s Rising Star Award, which recognizes a young professional who demonstrates exceptional competence, skill and leadership potential in the PR field, and achieved significant, measurable outcomes for their company or clients.

Kim Condon, executive director of Daystar Kids, received the Executive of the Year Award, which recognizes a corporate or nonprofit executive in Greater Rochester who demonstrated their understanding and regard for the practice of PR.
