Ivy Yates is spending the year by working to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award.

As part of the project, Yates created a craft cart from scratch for use at the Mendon Public Library in Honeoye Falls. She hopes her cart will be a place for kids of all ages to find creating materials while visiting the library.

Yates also hosted a “Slime Time” virtual program for children through the library’s summer reading program. Ten kids joined her on Facebook Live to make slime.

Yates hopes to run more virtual crafting times in the fall. She is collecting recycled milk gallon containers for a winter project that will be unveiled in the library next year.
