For the third year running, the Monroe County and city of Rochester Council for People with Disabilities is offering rides to the polls on Election Day for people who are in need of transport, available to 30 residents on a first-come, first-serve basis.

According to a press release, Medicab, Medical Motor Service and Monroe Ambulance/Medical Transportation have each agreed to donate 10 rides to help people with accessibility issues get to the polls.

“For years, Monroe County and the city of Rochester have led the way in working to achieve accessibility in all areas of government services, and this initiative is yet another example of these efforts,” said Peg Pepe-O’Brien, chair of the COPD, in a statement.

The program was created in 2009 after transportation to polling sites was identified as a need by COPD.

Residents who are in need of a ride should call the company of their choice by Friday, Nov. 4, no later than 4 p.m. to schedule a ride.

The services can be reached at the following numbers:

Medicab Transportation: (585) 342-7150
Medical Motor Service: (585) 654-7030
