The Brighton Town Board unanimously passed a $21.9 million budget Wednesday night at a regular town board meeting.

There were changes from the tentative budget, including deletion of the proposal to fund construction of the Veterans Memorial through a bond and restoration of funds (midyear) for filling a 40th police officer position left vacant this year after a retirement. There is also a slight reduction in the tax rate.

The tax levy remained flat at $13.3 million. The tax rate is $5.19 per $1,000 of assessed value which is a decrease of two cents from 2011.
