Turns out those afternoon naps might actually be good for you.
Researchers at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland tracked 3,462 people between the ages of 35 and 75 to study the connection between nap frequency and preventing heart attacks or strokes.
The University found that those who took one to two daytime naps from five minutes to an hour during the week were 48% less likely to suffer a heart attack, stroke or heart failure than those who did not nap.
"Subjects who nap once or twice per week have a lower risk of incident CVD (cardiovascular disease) events, while no association was found for more frequent napping or napping duration," the authors said in the report, which was published in journal Heart.
Ove the course of the study, 155 subjects experienced a heart problem. Those who napped in the sweet spot of one to two per week were half as likely to have a heart problem.
Because the study was observational, it could not completely establish a cause and effect.
